A writer of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and translations, I have published in Harvard Review, The Kenyon Review, The New York Review of Books, Slate, The Threepenny Review, and many other magazines and journals. My nonfiction book, Firsts Abroad, will be out soon (Rutgers UP, June 2026). My short stories have been nominated for the Pushcart Prize (“Sun Salutations,” “This Collection of Mine,” “The Hole That Dave Dug,” “My Life as Mark Wahlberg,” “A Christmas Letter”) and “Best of the Net” award (“Meat Dreams”).
A former Fulbright scholar to France, I hold a PhD in Sociology of Higher Education from University College London, an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia, and an MPhil in English from Oxford University, and I spent time at Fundación Valparaíso, Spain as a Fiction Fellow. I direct the Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies and teach in the Honors College at Oregon State University.
