A writer of fiction, nonfiction, and translations, I have published in Collier’s, Harvard Review, Kenyon Review, The Threepenny Review, and many other magazines and journals. My short stories have been nominated for the Pushcart Prize (“This Collection of Mine,” “The Hole That Dave Dug,” “My Life as Mark Wahlberg,” “A Christmas Letter”) and “Best of the Net” award (“Meat Dreams”).
A former Fulbright scholar to France, I hold an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia and an MPhil in English from Oxford University, and I spent time at Fundación Valparaíso, Spain as a Fiction Fellow. I have taught writing and literature at Gotham Writers Workshop, Oregon State University, Pacific University, Pacific Northwest College of Art | Willamette University, Portland Literary Arts, Portland State University, Santa Clara University, and the Universities of California (Santa Cruz), Portland, and Virginia. I have also done editorial work for Zoetrope: All-Story.
